Czar Nicholas II gave this egg to the Dowager Maria Fedorovna in 1890. The
egg is made of translucent pink enamel and has a ten-panel picture frame as the
surprise.
It must have been quite a delightful surprise for the Empress Maria, who had grown up in Denmark, to see
all the wonderful places she lived in and loved during her childhood as a
Danish Princess.
